Exergy and Area Impianti, an Italian provider of flue gas treatment and heat recovery systems, supplied an ORC-based heat recovery system for Sisecam's float glass mill in Targovishte, Bulgaria, commissioned in 2015. The 4.8 MWe outdoor plant uses an EPS 500 unit with Exergy's Radial Outflow Turbine: hot fumes from the mill heat a thermal oil loop (300 °C inlet, 150 °C outlet), which vaporises the organic working fluid before it expands through the turbine to drive the generator. Heat is rejected through a direct air condenser, and the generator delivers at medium voltage. According to Exergy, the plant saves 14,000 tons of CO2 and 7,100 tons of oil equivalent per year.
