Characteristics
6 of 7 fields · all sourced · retrieved 2026-10-04The V162-6.2 MW™ is one of the first turbines designed on Vestas' EnVentus™ platform, built for low to medium wind sites in primarily pad-constrained markets, while its large operational envelope also gives it extensive applicability at high average wind speeds. It pairs a 162 m rotor with a 20,612 m² swept area and a nominal rating of 6.2 MW, with optional operational modes of 5.6, 6.0, 6.4 and 6.5 MW. The EnVentus™ architecture connects proven system designs from Vestas' 2 MW, 4 MW and 9 MW platforms: a full-scale converter to meet varying grid code requirements, a permanent magnet generator and a medium-speed drivetrain with a two-stage planetary gearbox. With a standard sound power level of 104.8 dB(A), Vestas states up to 30 percent higher energy production than the V150-4.2 MW™, with standard hub heights from 119 m to 169 m.
