Each module integrates the fuel cell stack with the air supply, hydrogen supply, cooling and power control components in a single package, and a Toyota-specific design recirculates part of the water produced during power generation back to the membrane, so no separate humidifier is needed. The modules come in two shapes — the box-type TFCM2-B and the flat, rectangular TFCM2-F — each available with a rated output of 60 or 80 kW and a 400 to 750 V range, with a built-in boost converter for connection to electrical equipment; models can be combined to match the required output level and available installation space. Second-generation modules are assembled on a pilot line at Toyota Motor Europe's R&D centre in Brussels, opened in January 2022, and Toyota's Fuel Cell Business Group provides application engineering support for integration. Toyota targets high-load, long-range uses — buses, trucks, boats, trains and forklifts — as well as stationary generators.
