Toyota Motor Europe

Toyota Motor Europe (TME) develops, assembles and sells hydrogen fuel cell systems for applications beyond passenger cars, building on fuel cell technology Toyota has invested in since 1992 and first mass-produced in the Mirai in 2014. Its second-generation Toyota Fuel Cell Modules use PEM (Proton Exchange Membrane) technology and integrate the fuel cell stack with air supply, hydrogen supply, cooling and power control in one compact package, offered in a box shape (TFCM2-B) and a flat shape (TFCM2-F), each rated at 60 or 80 kW over a 400-750 V range. The modules are assembled on a pilot line at TME's R&D centre in Brussels, running since January 2022, and a dedicated Fuel Cell Business Group set up in 2020 handles application engineering, assembly and sales, supporting external partners integrating the modules. Reported applications include city buses (CaetanoBus H2.City Gold), trucks, the FCH2RAIL train prototype, marine range extenders and stationary generators developed with EODev.
