It turns forest residue wood chips into electricity, heat and green carbon. It runs on SYNCRAFT's patented floating fixed-bed gasification technology and is rated at 1,000 kW electrical and 1,404 kW thermal output at 90 °C, from a fuel heat input of 3,527 kW. It also produces about 9 m³ of premium charcoal per day. The manufacturer says the charcoal stores around 30% of the CO2 originally contained in the wood. When that charcoal goes into a permanent carbon sink, it can be used to generate CO2 certificates. The plant accepts G50/W50 wood chips, including fines and bark, and an optional drying package brings the fuel below W10 before it enters the gasifier. SYNCRAFT presents the unit as a baseload or daily-cycling decarbonisation option for sites with more than 5 GWh of heat or gas demand, and says it can be combined with heat pumps, CHP units and wood chip boilers.
