THIOPAQ® is a biological biogas purification system from Paques, developed with universities, that removes H2S to meet stringent gas quality requirements. Treated gas H2S concentrations of less than 25 ppm are routine, with inlet concentrations from 1,000 ppm up to 200,000 ppm, and the system has a wide turn-down to handle large fluctuations in gas flow. Because the process adds no air or oxygen, the calorific value of the gas is not diluted and the treated gas is ready for a gas engine or boiler; with negligible methane slip it suits biomethane and RNG upgrading projects. The elemental sulfur produced can be used as an organic fertilizer, and the small effluent bleed stream is safe for discharge. It applies to almost any H2S-containing gas, including biogas, syngas, CO2-rich off-gases, vent streams and geothermal gas, for flows from 50 Nm3/hour to more than 50,000 Nm3/hour.
