Nel's A-Series is a range of atmospheric alkaline electrolysers built around MW-class stack modules for on-site hydrogen generation, with a modular design meant to ease installation and integration with the balance of plant. The A485 module produces up to 485 Nm³/h (1,046 kg/24 h) at 0.03 barg, drawing 4.5 kWh/Nm³ (50 kWh/kg) at the stack from a 25% KOH electrolyte, and turns down to 15% of capacity. Identical modules are multiplied to reach plant scale: the AWE 100 standard plant is rated 100 MW for a nominal 19,400 Nm³/h (41,840 kg/24 h), at 4.5 kWh/Nm³ at the stack and 4.7 kWh/Nm³ across the plant. Nel presents the platform as low-pressure and serviceable, with stacks designed for cell replacement rather than full disposal and a stated 20+ year operational life, for uses such as steel, green ammonia, generator cooling, sustainable aviation fuel and shipping.
