A 23 MW / 200 MWh CO2 Battery near Rhode, County Offaly, on the site of a former peat-fired power plant, and the first bilateral commercial contract between Energy Dome and Google. Energy Dome develops, owns and operates the plant, which compresses and stores CO2 with grid power and expands it through a turbine when power is needed. The project holds land, planning consent, a grid connection and a 10-year EirGrid capacity contract, and is expected online in 2028; a second 200 MWh unit is planned on the site.
