Characteristics
4 of 4 fields · all sourced · retrieved 2026-10-27A 20 MW / 160 MWh, 8-hour CO2 Battery located at NTPC's Kudgi Super Thermal Power Plant in Karnataka, India. Its Dome, the flexible-membrane gasholder that keeps the CO2 at atmospheric pressure between charge and discharge, was built in-house at Energy Dome's Piacenza plant with Ecomembrane and shipped in May 2026. The CO2 is compressed and stored as a liquid at ambient temperature, then evaporated and expanded through a turbine to generate power. Energy Dome quotes a net AC-AC round-trip efficiency of 70% or more.
