Polar Night Energy

Polar Night Energy is a Finnish company, founded in 2018, that designs and manufactures high-temperature thermal energy storage systems. Its Sand Battery stores renewable electricity as heat in sand or other solid materials, which gives its customers a way to reduce combustion and carbon emissions and maximize their use of renewable energy. Its projects include an industrial-scale Sand Battery in Pornainen, Finland, built for the district heating company Loviisan Lämpö.
