Hyundai Motor Company
Hyundai Motor Company develops and mass-produces hydrogen fuel cell systems, marketed under HTWO, Hyundai Motor Group's hydrogen brand and business platform covering the whole value chain from production and storage to utilization. The company began hydrogen fuel cell research and development in 1998, developed its own fuel cell stack by 2004, and launched the world's first mass-produced fuel cell passenger car (ix35 Fuel Cell, 2013) and heavy-duty truck (XCIENT Fuel Cell, 2020). Its fuel cell product line covers engine-type and flat-type systems (94 kW net, up to 61.7% efficiency), a 30 kW fuel cell power pack integrating battery and hydrogen storage, and a 100 kW grid-connected fuel cell power generator, serving passenger and commercial vehicles, rail, power generation, construction, marine, port and agricultural equipment. Systems are built at the Chungju plant in Korea (20,000+ units/year) and at HTWO Guangzhou in China (6,500+ units/year), with a new Ulsan plant of 30,000 units/year scheduled for completion in 2027.
