Cryocap™ LQ is Air Liquide's high-capacity, flexible CO₂ liquefaction solution. Each custom-designed train liquefies captured CO₂ for transport by ship, truck or train, with capacities from 700 to more than 7,000 tonnes per day. The chemical-free, HSE-friendly process compresses, dries, liquefies and purifies the raw CO₂ stream: a stripping column produces the liquid product while self-refrigeration streams are recycled to a single feed/recycle compressor, which keeps the plant compact. Air Liquide reports a 40% reduction in specific energy consumption compared with traditional industrial CO₂ liquefaction, along with removal of moisture and trace impurities such as O₂ to meet strict CO₂ sink specifications. Process heat can be recovered, as in the 3,500 tonnes-per-day Stockholm Exergi BECCS unit, which supplies the municipal district heating network.
