Tier 1 is the smallest of the four capacity tiers, with a nominal capacity of 150 MTPD of Grade AA methanol made from green hydrogen and biogenic CO2. Its dynamic synthesis loop takes hydrogen directly as the electrolyzer produces it, so the plant keeps running through fluctuating feed and at low loads without hydrogen storage. The loop uses Topsoe's MK-417 SUSTAIN copper-based catalyst, which was developed for synthesizing methanol from green hydrogen and CO2. Topsoe says the pre-designed modular concept fixes CAPEX up front and cuts site-specific engineering and construction, so projects reach market faster.
