The SG 14-236 is an offshore direct drive wind turbine with a 236 m rotor and a nominal power of 14 MW, rising to up to 15 MW with Power Boost. Siemens Gamesa says the larger rotor delivers an AEP increase of more than 30% compared to the SG 11-200, and that standardized processes and a fully developed supply chain shorten its time to market, with serial production planned for 2024. Its direct drive design with a permanent magnet generator uses fewer wear-prone components than geared turbines, keeping weight and dimensions low and lowering transport and installation costs per MW. The High Wind Ride Through system ramps power down slowly above 25 m/s instead of shutting down, and IntegralBlade® technology casts each fiberglass-reinforced epoxy blade in one piece, with a RecyclableBlade option. Remote diagnostics feed turbine sensor data to the Siemens Gamesa Diagnostic Center for early anomaly detection.
