The CorPower C4 is CorPower Ocean's first commercial scale wave energy converter (WEC), with a 300 kW power rating. It uses a strong, lightweight structure and is designed to be delivered as CorPack clusters of 10-20 MW, the building blocks of utility scale wave farms with plug and play compatibility with offshore wind infrastructure. Its patented WaveSpring phase-control technology tunes the buoy to amplify energy capture in regular waves and automatically detunes in storms, limiting vertical movement to less than 2%. The manufacturer states it generates up to five times more annual energy per tonne of device than previous state of the art. A first C4 was installed and grid-connected in northern Portugal in 2023, where it weathered 18.5-metre Atlantic storm waves.
